Hi Everyone,
As usual I have to apologise for not writing a diary piece for a while, but I have been checking in to read the guestbook and the messageboard which I really enjoy doing.
After London I went to New York for a few days. Since we spend so much time in training camps, it was nice just to be able to hang out in a big city and enjoy all that it has to offer. We were also blessed with beautiful, but unseasonable weather which made it feel more like summer than Spring. After New York we headed back to Europe and spent some time on the beach and just generally getting away from everything.
I enjoyed my break, physically I felt fine but it is always nice to get that mental freshness back so you can look forward to the next goals. Things have been pretty hectic recently with getting back into training and getting a few things checked before I went back to the Pyrenees.
My first training stint was the Tesco Race for Life in Battersea Park in London. It was a really good event with 8000 women all running and raising lots of money for Cancer Research UK. I got the opportunity to run with lots of different people as I was able to loop back through the course and join in with different groups who were running round. I never usually get the opportunity to do this or sample the atmosphere back in the pack but it was a wonderful experience. I did end up running with a young girl called Hannah, it was quite cold and she infact had an asthma attack as she ran round. I was very proud of her for being able to compose herself and control the attack and finish the 5k. It was also great to see Sally Gunnell out there running with her group 4 months after giving birth to her third little boy, Marley.
Directly after Race for Life I was on a flight early the next morning to Brussels as I wanted to get my orthotics checked by Jempi, the guy who makes them for me. I also got the chance to call in at a kids athletic meeting before returning to the airport which was really interesting. Youth athletics is going really well in Belgium and this is very important for the future. The structure there is really good so lets hope they have some strong athletes come through the system.
From Brussels I flew straight to Ireland to Gerard's for an MOT before really starting back into proper training. I started to incorporate my weights program as well and was able to use the new weights facility at the University of Limerick - so thank you to them for that.
After Limerick I went to Munich to see Müller Wolfhart for another quick check up on my back to make sure that everything was in place and moving well . Finally then I was in a position to make my last move to the Pyrenees where I will remain in the build up to the summer.
At the minute, I do not have any firm plans but am definitely thinking about a few different options. Thanks again for all of the messages , cards, emails, flowers etc. I really appreciate it and know how lucky I am to have such loyal and enthusiastic fans.
Have Fun,
