Up-coming races
11th October 2005
Hi Everyone,

As I write this I'm still in the Pyrenees but looking forward to the Run London 10km race this weekend. I've just been getting back into proper training so am looking forward to racing and seeing where I am. We've been pretty lucky with the weather here so far only one dump of snow. I really didn't fancy having to deal with winter at the beginning of October but thankfully things returned to normal and we have had generally pretty clear, crisp autumn weather.

In London this weekend I am going to be at the event in Hyde Park but, I will also be involved with the events in Battersea Park and Victoria Park. After I've run my 10km, I'll also be running round with a group of competition winners and all of the other runners in the runners in the second wave, this is always great fun too. I really enjoyed it last year, though I hope I can keep up after my earlier run out!

With 45,000 people taking part in Run London, it's sure to be a great event and hopefully will inspire Londoners to stick to the theme of the event and keep running the whole year, there are training events and other smaller races to keep the focus going. The following week I am also going to be racing at the National Road Relays in Birmingham for my club Bedford and County. It has been a long time since I raced at the relays so I am really looking forward to it. This was always part of my athletics calendar since I can remember so it will hopefully be like old times and we will have a good team turnout. There is always a great atmosphere there, and I used to love the doughnut van but unfortunately, I'm not supposed to have them now.

This week I had a nice surprise as I was honoured by the Mayor and the town of Font Romeu. They organised a really nice reception for me and even presented me with a gorgeous garnet stone, which is the stone of the region and a fun pair of Catalan red and yellow striped socks! I love training in this area and am really grateful for all the support and friendship the people of Font Romeu give me when we are in training camps here.

Anyway, Good Luck to everyone racing this weekend. I hope everyone really enjoys it and achieves their goals.
