I have selected Sian Edwards from Kettering as the Athlete of the Month for March.
After winning the National XC U/17 race and the U/20 Trial with strong performances, Sian ran very well for 34th in the World XC U/20 race. At only 16 years old she still has another two years left as a junior.
With Sian and Emily Pidgeon (congratulations on a great run for 20th at WXC) the junior girls team looks in good hands for a few years.
I have been impressed with Sian as she obviously is committed and not afraid to work hard and to learn as she progresses. The youngest member of the silver medal winning GB Junior team at the European XC back in December where she finished 43rd, she obviously went away from that enthusiastic to train smart and well and build on her success.
With her successes this year she has done just that and I look forward to watching her future progress.
