Hi,

I suffered similar issues - when running or not - and only got to the issue when I had private IgG testing done to figure out what foods I was intolerant to.

Intolerance is harder to figure out as it is the meals you eat the day before that tend to affect me rather than what I have eaten just previously.

Have a look at these two articles:
http://www.triradar.com/2012/04/30/avoiding-gastrointestinal-distress/
http://www.triradar.com/2012/05/11/is-food-intolerance-holding-you-back/

The company I used for my IgG test was York Test (www.yorktest.com) but i am sure there are others if you want to look around - although they do feature a testimonial from a top female runner.

My results came back with intolerance to soya, gluten and lactose, and since cutting these out my condition is improved greatly (can't say totally cured - but then it was extremely severe prior to that - not just when running and these are ingredients that are hidden in many foods and I am still learning).

I would have my doubts about psychological as this would be more before hand in pre-race nerves.

The testing can be a little expensive (and not supported by the NHS but it was my doctor who finally sent me in this direction - after trying to tell me that going to the bathroom 15 times in a day was still within the realms of "normal" )

Good luck

I thought my training was going too well to be true, and sure enough, I pulled a hamstring on Saturday. This has forced me to rest for a few days which is not good, as my next race is a week on Sunday. I shan't run it if I'm not fully recovered, as I don't fancy it pulling during the race, leaving me limping to the finish.

Christine O, has a real shot at a medal this year. Good to see Andy Baddeley running well also with a world leading 3.35 in Palo Alto and not to mention Greg Rutherford's fantastic jump last week. Good to see so many British athletes reaching the A standards so early in the season.

Paula just posted a photo of her training in Font Romeu on Twitter so thankfully it doesn't appear there were too many complications post Vienna.

Excellent running from Keitany this morning, this graph really illustrates it well, steady pace up to half way and then ramp it up mile after mile. Look at the way her competitors crash at 35 k whilst she gets faster.

http://results-2012.virginlondonmarathon.com/2012/index.php?pid=leaderboard

After that performance she will be the favourite for the olympics. Shes never run a good race without pacemakers though, and its her first major championships so nothings certain.

On a side note Constantina Dita ran 2:32 her best marathon for years, so looks like she'll be on the start line to defend her title. Also Edna Kiplagat ran a PB, so another woman whos run sub 2:20.

I'm thinking she will. She says she had other races planned (assuming there's no major problems from Vienna) and she knows she will get good support and good competition, so it will be a good sharpener.

Thank you everyone for your encouragement. It's nice to hear that the *silent majority* is excited to be hosting the Olympics!
And isn't it always the silent majority that has the final say?

I know you Brits will put on a mighty fine show and host a tremendously successful Games!! I can't wait
