Hi kjelli, I understand your concern about Paula maybe hyper-focusing on London 2012, however, there are alot of athletes who will tell you after winning the OGM that they focused on this moment for four years!

For example: When Evan Lysacek (who is awesome!) won in Vancouver last month, he and his coach, the great Frank Carroll, had been mapping out a plan since Torino 2006 to win in Vancouver.

Sometimes, this does backfire, but sometimes it does in fact lead to GOLD.

Time will tell and in all truth, Vancouver was Evan's second Olympics, while for Paula, this will be five! Soooo, who knows.

In the meantime, I hope she has Child #2 this year and then returns to serious training ... and winning!

Sounds interesting HS. In London most of this week so I am going to be struggling to train, however my son is rowing in the Schools Head of the River race on Thursday so will probably run that. It is over the same course as the Boat race but in reverse so from Mortlake (Chiswick Bridge) to Putney.

Well I won't keep up with an Eight over 4.25 miles when they are rowing with the Ebb tide so will probably run alongside at the start and then cut through the middle (the Thames goes in one of its n formations) and wait for them to approach and run down to the finish with them. I might then run back the whole 4.2 miles with them as they will be paddling rather than racing and against the tide so should keep up.

So do we think she is going to run London?

I'm not sure to be honest... It's only about 7 weeks away, surely she would have made her mind up by now? She did say after NYC that she was going to take some time off, rest and recouperate, so I doubt she'll be in London.

Would she train for a marathon and actively try for a baby at the same time?

Like Paul A says, all speculation.

I'd love it if she did run, but only if she was in shape to run and win, by beating Mikitenko :-p.
Everyone keep your fingers and toes crossed that Paula will be healthy and fit come 2012!!

Thank you, MR Sir, for the link!

I've been missing Paula and a bit worried about her since we've heard virtually nothing for months. How cool that she was in Vancouver for the Olympics. [I'm having massive Olympic withdrawals!]
It's so reassuring to see her smiling and happy!

I'm still firmly in the Paula Camp.
I think London will be brillant as well!

My only concern and it is just this nagging feeling I have had since London got the games is security ...not that it won't be good but how does one protect the Tube etc? That worry would never stop me from coming but it is there-just some kind of gut feeling really.

Paul- that is a wonderful offer. I may just take you up on it. Of course you would be more than welcome to come here any time as well.
yamauchi and kastor have entered the new york half marathon on march 21st, which should give a better indicator of their shape before london.

also sammy wanjiru and martin lel are scheduled to run a half marathon in new orleans this sunday.

I thoroughly enjoyed the meeting on TV and wished I was there.

Meadows looked in fantastic shape - 1:59.11 puts her second on the world-rankings and it's nice to see Idowu getting back into form after an iffy start.

Really exciting three-way finish in the 2-miles and nice to see Tiru win after quite a few withdrawals from this meeting.

It also depends on the timeframe you want to finish the race in, the faster you want to run the longer you will have to train, and the harder you will push yourself.

Just to run a marathon, if you have never ran one before is something you have to train for, you just can’t go out and do it without any training, you have to prepare yourself both physically and mentally.
