Is that an Olympic event yet? I've only seen the single trampoline event.

                                      She looks fine to me.

Paula has always been very thin.

That said, I'm relieved that she is running "only" about 120+ miles per week which is plenty! IMHO, it would appear that her training is being tailored properly to ensure that she toes the line 100% fit and healthy in London.

It sounds like the conditions couldn't have been better. It was about 12-13C and considering it's Dubai, I'm guessing there weren't any hills and the road surface was perfect.

Does anyone know how this works. Does it start in the summer and end the next summer so its 12 months alltogheter. Is it only number one who gets prize money?
I see Paula has been number 7 a couple of times.
I really thought lisa was going to peak in time for Daegu last year after her excellent run in crystal palace, but she came second to last in her heat. Glad to see there was a logical reason for her poor performance and not it seems to be resolved.

She seems very injury prone, but when on top form can mix it with the best.

Heres hoping things come together for her this year.

I think Bolt is an exception in that he is now a global superstar. While some of the others you stated are at the top of their sport (fairly or ortherwise), Bolt is so much better than that. As NS has stated, Usain was already a very good athlete before 2008, but outside of keen athletics followers very few people still knew who he was at that point. What I'm saying is that his breakthrough was somewhat exaggerated by the intense media fascination with him in 2008 (and since).

As for the topic on the whole- unfortunately that's the way the world works these days, as suspicions are high. I try not to think like that as it ruins the surprises in sport but sometimes I can't help thinking 'They must be on drugs, there's no way they can improve that quickly', particularly if an athlete is from a country which has a poor drugs record.

The fact is, no matter how scientific we can get about training, nutrition, coaching, injury prevention etc. sometimes an athlete does just make improvements for reasons which they themselves cannot explain. Think of it this way- if elite athletes all improved their times by the same amount each year, athletics would be nowhere near as exciting as it is now!
Your mention of Wing brought back memories of when I lived in Aylesbury. There was a proposal to build a new airport at Wing, and I remember signing a petition opposing it. The slogan of the day was "Wings off Wing."

Good luck with your resolutions Jack, especially getting into University. These days of high unemployment, it is especially important to get good qualifications.

I don't make resolutions, but do intend to keep running and racing until a good old age. I am now 66 and last year trained harder than for several years. I do most of my training runs on trails in the New Forest now, which has greatly improved my stamina and endurance.
