Yes great run JDC, I wish I could run that fast.
The Southern Men's team were without me on Saturday. I was at Bedford Regatta supporting my son. The team came third but if I had been there running B string 5,000M and S/C we would have come second. There weren't many entrants and I would have been third in both for a total of 10 points. So a bit of a shame but there you go. Plus I wouldn't have been last in the 5,000M I don't think, although the person behind would have been 70 years old
Anyway into the East Midlands Grand Prix Series. 8 races on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Did the Rugby 6 last week and Bedford 6 last night. 48.12 last week although the last mile felt quicker than the clock said
47.29 last night with a storming last mile. Pretty good especially as I had to stop for about 20 seconds at 4.5 miles because I had a tight right calf and needed to stretch it out. Got running again and it left me sprint at the end but I was terrified it was going to go ping. They were giving masaages at the end so had one but very sore last night. A bit better today but will need to stay off it for a while and see how it goes. Next race is due to be Corby 5 next Wednesday. _________________ Great Britain - Land of Fair play and sportsmanship. Blimey JDC! Thats an incredible time! When I did the newham 10km I forgot my garmin so didnt get split times but I ran 43.46. Gonna have to try and beat your time time!
I have Malvern 5km 6th of June. Looking for a sub 20 minute run, plus the win. My best position there is 12th, and my best time 22.39, but with my personal best dropping to 20.18 this year, I have high hopes _________________ Olympic Year |

Jack... you've only got to slice off 15 secs or so... no problem
If you've run that quickly over 5km then you'll smash it easy peasy.
I'm looking towards a 1/2 marathon now, possibly the Experian Robin Hood 1/2 Marathon in September, just taking a bit of time off to rest the shins, but feel lazy doing nothing! |

Coming of a confidence boosting 47:14 10k last weekend, I was hopeful of a good time.
I had hoped for a cool day, but it was 21C when I left Inverness at 5pm, when I left home it was 17C and 15C when I got back - amazing what 40 miles of road does to the temperature. I think it was the hottest temperature I've run in this year, with a slight breeze into our faces on the back straight. Only five of us started the 5000m, and I was told that was three more than turned out for the Highland/Grampian district championships. The gun went off, and after 200m I was already dropped (About 51 seconds). However the lap counter official, started the counter at 13, so after five laps of being shouted false information, I shouted at then as I passed, to get it right. Not that I'm one for accusing anyone of bribing the officials, but . . . . Next lap, they had it right. With a mile to go I realised I was starting to catch the guy ahead, I closed on him, but was five seconds adrift at the finish. As he was 27 seconds infront four weeks ago in the 1500m, I hoped it meant I had a good run. I was heartened to try a 200m 40 minutes later - a great mistake - my loosing margin was more than twice that of the 5000m, with more people in the race.
So the target time for Paul is 22:39.84 (and if you must know my 200m time, it was 38.21) |

MNF, dropped instantly and way bacl in the 200M sounds like one of my match reports Well done for giving it a go though.
However 22.39 is a challenging time for me but a possibility so this is a good challenge. My best time last year was a 22.31 on my home track.
My next 5,000M on 5th June.... at home Not sure I am in that form at the moment but going to give it a go.
Alsomust say you wouldn;t catvh me doing 200M, far too fast a race for me but have tried a 400M.

acorns run today. Fourth time I've done it and hoped to win this year in under 20 after last time I did it I came 12th in 22.39.
I tried to hold back but got carried with the pace and the first k was 3.43! I nearly had a heart attack. I continued at a decen cadence as 4 of us broke away. I sat in fourth till abou half way until I made my way into second. The closest I got to him was about 5m and in the fourth K a gap started to open. It he gap kept growing and growing and I game 2nd in 20.14, 20 seconds behind. Any other year I would have one with a course record, so Im pleased with the run _________________ Olympic Year |

Hind sight is a wonderful, but useless thing! I only shaved 4 seconds off my best but when I did that I was doing I was always around 4.05, with my fastest k being the fourth, so if I had held back I would have had a better chance.
It was hard this year though, all the kids sprinted off and I thought I was holding back but obviously I wasnt. _________________ Olympic Year |

23.39 in the 5,000M yesterday. Not a good run but it was really hot and humid. 28C but the hunidity was high. Still there you go. Decided the steeplechase would be good as at least I could a cold bath each lap. With 700M to go I was lying in third with three behind me, almost unheard of, then as I came over the barrier my left calf tightened right up However I couldn't face stoppng so struggled on stretching my calf at the next barrier. The next runner started to catch me but I held him off until we were over the last barrier and then decided I had to risk a sprint to the line. The calf held but I lost third place by 4 tenths of a second. Still a good result but really annoyed with my calf. Couldn't move my leg today though However we came second by 3.5 points yseterday and I got 4 points for the chase so pleased I didn't step off the track. _________________ Great Britain - Land of Fair play and sportsmanship. | Well run Paul, you were unlucky with the weather. I ran a 10km yesterday in 46:56, in what was a perfect day for running, and was a season's best. |

46.56 is a pretty impressive 10k time MNF
I ran 5 miles at Banbury last night ion 40.51. 2 minutes slower than last year but to be honest I took it very easily as I was concerned about the calf,. Wouldn't have been able to run the day before but it has eased off and after a lot of stretching etc in warm-up was able to run last night but daren't push it especially not up the hills.
Not due to race until next Tuesday now at - Market Harborough 5 mile which is the penultimate race in the series. _________________ Great Britain - Land of Fair play and sportsmanship. The BOA banning drugs cheats for life ! |

Malvern 10k and one of the hardest races Ive ever done. So many hills, but I did it in 47.25, with negative splits of 24.19, and 23.06 with a HUGE hill at 6k. Pleased with time, came 55th. _________________ Olympic Year |

On the hottest day of the year, 30deg. I ran in the Lordshill 10k. My time was 54.08 which is my slowest ever, but I am happy with it, as I respected the temperature and ran at a relaxed pace, overtaking many in the last 2k who had set off too quickly. This race will stand me in good stead for the New Forest 10 mile in 2 weeks. _________________ I run, therefore I am

Good running HS, it was hot yesterday and if I remember rightly the Lordshill 10k is not an easy one.
I di a local 5 mile race on friday evening. 40.37. Not bad given recent form and it is a bit hilly as well.
then ran my debut for the A team in the home match of the Southern men's league. Just the 3,000M steeplechase. I was last but only three teams entered so still got three points and actually ran my second fastest even time of 15.21 so very surprised at the end. it was hot Saturday as well although not as hot as yesterday !! _________________ Great Britain - Land of Fair play and sportsmanship. Ran the New Forest 10 mile multi terrain yesterday in very hot conditions. My time was 89.00 mins which in the circumstances I was pleased with. _________________ I run, therefore I am

HS, yes was certainly got at the weekend. I think 89 mins for 10 miles in those conditions is really good.
We had our SML Div 4 match on Saturday and I ended up running 5,000M then 1500M and finally 3,000M Steeplechase. It was 31C heat in Dartford
I was knackered by the last two laps of the chase and I thin kthe team manager was about to dial 999 and call the coastguard as I went into the water jump on those laps, I pretty much had to drag myself out and they weren't sure I was going to make it 17.25 mins so 2 minutes slower than the last chase. the 5,000M was 24.14 as well which is the slowest I have ever run 5,000M on the track or indeed 5k at all I think. Largely conditions but I am struggling a bit at the moment as well and not sure why although i am generally tired. I think I need a holiday, luckily only another three weeks before i head down to Australia.
Mind you the flight will make me even more tired _________________ Great Britain - Land of Fair play and sportsmanship. The BOA banning drugs cheats for life ! |
