Paula: relishing the races in Helsinki
25th July 2005
Paula Radcliffe has confirmed that she will contest in both the 10,000m and the marathon at the World Championships in Helsinki. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Paula said: "My main focus is the marathon, but things are going well and if it stays that way then running the 10,000m can replace the last training session and bring me on well.
"Everything has been done to make sure that I will be 100 per cent. My back has settled down but whatever happens, the marathon is what I’m aiming for and if anything does happen, then the 10,000m can be dropped."
The 10,000m takes place on the first day of the World Championships on Saturday 6th August, while the marathon takes place eight days later on Sunday 14th August.
Paula is one of a 52-strong British team being sent to Helsinki, where other medal hopes lie in athletes such as Kelly Sotherton, Nathan Douglas and the men's relay teams.
