World marathon champion Paula Radcliffe has confirmed her participation in the 2006 Flora London Marathon.
Paula is the reigning London champion and also won the event in 2002 and 2003. A fourth win would tie the record of London victories, currently held by Norway's Ingrid Kristiansen.
Race organiser David Bedford has not yet decided whether the race will be a mixed or women's only event.
This news comes on the same day that Paula was announced British female athlete of 2005 by the British Athletics Writers Association (BAWA). A unanimous decision, it was a record fifth win in seven years for Paula.

Paula Radcliffe has regrettably withdrew from the National 4-stage Relays this weekend in Sutton Park.
Last weekend Paula ran 32:19 at the Nike RunLondon 10km and knew than that something was up, saying: "It was tough and I just didn't feel right from the start. I felt very stiff. I thought I would feel better in the second half but I didn't"
Tests confirmed that she was suffering from a cold and a high temperature, and was therefore advised not to run. Gary Lough, Paula's husband, said: "Obviously she's pretty annoyed about this, but sometimes these things happen."

World marathon champion Paula Radcliffe is set to compete in her first road race on Dutch soil when she lines up for the Zeven Heuvelen Loop ('Seven Hills Run'), a 15km race, on November 20 in Nijmegen, Holland.
Paula's husband Gary Lough said: "We know that Felix Limo set a 15km world record for 15km there and athletes usually run very fast in Nijmegen. It is a quality event for female athletes."
Before travelling to Holland, Paula will make her way to London for the RunLondon 10km on October 16 and will also compete in the National 4-stage road relays on the following weekend.
